PRESIDENT JOE’S PAGE................
Our museum addition is now reaching the final stages of
construction. Finished is the dry wall and taping work as well as the wall
painting. The heating and cooling units are being put in place this week.
Floor coverings are next and should be completed in about 3 weeks at which time
we will begin the job of setting up new displays in the new areas made
available by the construction. We plan to have an open house next spring but
we have a lot of work to do before then. We have had extra expenses,
especially the cost of a new roof for the old building. So our capital
campaign for the building program is ongoing. If you would like to help us
with the financing of the new museum building we would very much appreciate
donations of any size. Donations can be mailed to:

A few weeks ago we hosted the Miller County
Museum display at the Art
and Ambiance Trail exhibition at Stone Crest Mall. It was an enjoyable time to
have the opportunity to speak with those who stopped by to chat. On display
were many items including the quilts we have for raffle later this year.
Coming up the weekend of Saturday, September 8, is our classic car show
produced by Jack Lupardus who himself has a classic Cadillac convertible. I
will report on this page next quarter more details about the car show and the
events for those who don’t make it to attend in person.
Our website (www.millercountymuseum.org)
is growing in size and content each week under the direction of museum
director, Nancy Thompson. I certainly recommend to all who have internet
access to visit our website. You will find more interesting articles about Miller County
history there than any other source of which I am aware. Although our museum
will close after the car show on September 8, you can still keep informed with
what we are doing at the museum by keeping in touch with our website which is
revised and updated every week.
