Teachers of grades one through four at the Yellow School during the 1930s included Jo. B. Willibrand and Pauline Dueber.
Taken from HISTORY OF ST. ELIZABETH R-IV SCHOOLS PART I THE RURAL SCHOOLS by Ray Doerhoff:
The school is located in the town of St. Anthony, after which it is named. The original size of the district was fairly small compared to other rural schools, until the Clark school territory to the north was added to the St. Anthony district in 1926. The two-room schoolhouse that was in use in the 1930’s is now owned by Harold Holtmeyer and is being used as a garage and repair shop. This rural district became a part of the St. Elizabeth R-4 district in 1949 under the state’s new school reorganization law required for all counties. Just as with the Capps school district, none of the old rural school records were filed with the St. Elizabeth R-4 schools and are unavailable. The only information available is from state archives, county records and people’s memories.
St. Anthony School District: Information taken from Saint Anthony of Padua Parish, Saint Anthony, MO, 1906 - 2006:
In 1917 a two-story, multi-purpose building was built in the town of St. Anthony to serve as both a school and a place for other parish events. This building was referred to as the Yellow School. The people of the parish used the building for a variety of activities including dances which were held upstairs. The building was rented by the St. Anthony school district in the late 1920s while the new school was being built. It was used again, beginning in 1932, for the first through fourth grades due to overcrowding at the St. Anthony School.
